Recently, I had the opportunity to be the guest speaker at a webinar hosted by Design & Management Systems (DMS), where I discussed how schools can protect themselves against cyber threats. It was a fantastic opportunity to share the experiences and strategies I’ve developed first-hand at Maplesden Noakes School.
In the session, I focused on three key points:
- Meeting Department for Education (DfE) standards through staff security awareness training.
- Implementing essential security protocols to ensure cyber insurance claims are honoured.
- Using KnowBe4 for phishing tests and ongoing staff training, to reduce cyber-related risks.
It was great to see so many schools join the webinar, as security awareness training is something all schools must prioritise. School staff are, after all, the last line of defence against cyber threats.
Thank you to DMS for the opportunity to speak with IT professionals across the country. Cybersecurity is a massive challenge for all schools and education settings, but I believe that through collaboration and the sharing of best practices, we can ensure schools are prepared to tackle the cyber risks of the future.
